I write both original and fanfiction, but I'm currently working on a long term story, for eventual publication (eventual being the key word here). I need to return to my lovely Harry Potter fanfiction though, before all my fans disappear... Personally I like GinnyTonks better than GinnyFleur...

I think we'll get along too. Not to sound like a broken record, but you sound like a cool dude.

I suppose that means that you want me to explain two-spirit, right? It's like representing all four letters of GLBT. Transgender because you don't really feel like you belong as either male or female, but yet both at the same time. Gay because the male spirit prefers other guys, and lesbian because the female spirit prefers women. Seeing the fact that all of this is true, it makes me as one individual bisexual.... If that confused you, I apologize.

Wah, that's really really cool! I can kinda understand because I'm...haha, to borrow your term, you might say I'm a one-point-five-spirit. However, the closest label you'd come to outside of that is a transexual girl--rather, that's me, and the 'old name' refers to my brother, who took life for me for years, until eventually I reached the surface, and I've started working towards living as who I feel I am. He supports me silently from behind the scenes, and occasionally steps in front of me when he feels he needs to. We share the same memories, but look at them through slightly different lenses, and react differently. You could say he and I are two possible puzzles each made from the same collection of pieces, hence the '1.5.' It's really really cool to hear of someone/a pair who are something similar, and you two are a separate animal of your own! Ah, I didn't mean to start blabbering about myself, but this is really cool~! Talk more, talk more!

That's really awesome, I don't understand how you could have an outcome like that, but still... I too would like to hear more about this, not from the psychological aspect, but from the aspect of a mere curious person.

I kinda would like to hear those theories. You may not be credible now, but it's always interesting to hear someone else's opinion. I'd rather the opinion be from someone with remotely legitimate info on the brain than say.... A high-school freshman who takes a liking to the subject (quite like myself).

Well... alright, here's my theories then, but don't hold them as being 100% accurate fact and worry yourselves over it.




For P01s0n3d (btw, the name is annoying to type xP lol)'s situation.

After what you mentioned of being two-spirited, I did some research on it. Two-spirited implies that one has a masculine spirit and a feminine spirit inhabiting the same body. Traditionally, those spirits are both heterosexual, but in your case, they're both homosexual, though it inevitably accomplishes the same goal, except the mindset during relationships is 'gay' not 'straight'. I'm assuming you're physically female, and that Megan is the dominant spirit in terms of body, mind, and actions, especially given that you said Nikk was seeking attention.

Now, 'spirits' is more suited as 'personalities' in terms familiar to a psychologist, so I'll use personalities instead from here on out. To a psychologist, you have two separate personalities that influence your actions. Based on what you've told me, both are self-aware, and aware of the existence of the other, and both can communicate together to influence the actions of your single body. Now, the closest thing that comes to mind is Dissociative Identity Disorder, previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder, and is typically brought about by abuse or traumatic events of some nature. However, you do not dissociate to a separate personality during stress (I assume), and instead you simply have two personalities, making that a highly unlikely explanation, but still plausible.

This could, instead, be a psychological construct created by your subconscious to save you from the stress of realizing that you are actually single-spirited and bisexual. Given that both spirits are homosexual, it is possible that you developed the persona's as a means of explaining why you have urges for both genders sexually. Given that they are homosexual personalities, it is likely that you feel that you are homosexual in your subconscious, but that you actually still hold interest in the opposite sex which is expressed as Nikk. In other words: it is possible that your subconscious knows you are a bisexual female, but you may not be able to deal with that fact in your conscious, so your subconscious created the two personalities to give you a different explanation to your sexual urges towards both genders that you would find more acceptable. They are homosexual because your subconscious is seeking to explain your homosexual urges.

My final theory is that you do, in fact, have two distinct spirits, or souls, inhabiting your body. However, this has no psychological grounds, unless you were born with a prenatally deceased fraternal twin who was male and would have been homosexual in life, in which it is possible that you would have a type of psychologically phenomenal connection to the spirit of the deceased twin, and you are in essence living your life for both of you. That does require that you have a deceased fraternal twin, preferably a stillborn, or a stillborn conjoined twin. If you didn't have such a twin, then it is simply possible that you were born two-spirited as many Native Americans were; a blessing/curse from the heavens.

(BTW, my favorite one is the subconscious theory, steeped in the psychoanalytic theory dealing with the subconscious, which is supposedly driven by sex and aggression, but with a conscious that may not be tolerant of certain things ^_^)

Reading over what you've stated, you were physically born a male (whether you are still or not I cannot determine) and you originally were born mono-spirited as a heterosexual male in spirit, right? Okay, but later on your homosexual female spirit developed and rose to the surface, with the heterosexual male spirit taking a backseat except in situations in which you dissociate to him, most likely involving stress or trauma of some nature.

Okay, I only have two theories for this one, and I'll only use personality, not spirit, for the first one. You were born a male, and were raised a male who was heterosexual. Now, my guess is that the female personality began to arise not long after puberty when your sexual urges began to arise. You were still heterosexual in terms of body, but you had this sense that the body was not an accurate portrayal of your true sex. This is common with Gender Identity Disorder, in which you feel you are not the gender you are portrayed as. The dual persona appears to be closer to a self-aware and cross-personality-aware form of Dissociative Identity Disorder at this point, as you dissociate to him when put in a specifically uncomfortable situation, though cross-personality-awareness is exceedingly rare. In other words: the male personality is a defense mechanism to protect the female personality in your male body until such time as the female personality is capable of protecting itself proficiently, and the female personality is the true or dominant personality, which is who you truly are inside.

The other theory I had was that the two-as-one spirit is a representation of the two halves of your one soul, with the male representing the stereotypically male traits of strength, aggression, and protection, while the female half represents the stereotypically female traits which are seen as weaker and in need of protecting. My guess is that the male half of your spirit was dominant when you were younger, protecting the other spirit until you were developed enough for the female persona to show through. Now, the male spirit is serving as bodyguard, simply stepping in when the female persona feels dangerously threatened. It's a less psychological approach, but it does have some semblance of sense to it.

(BTW, I find the first one particularly interesting, as a psychology major anyway ^_^)

Please note that all of these theories assume A LOT, and that I in no way am saying that any of these are necessarily true, and I am in no way stating that you have any of the requirements above. I do not know you well enough to make those claims legitimately, so just take it as me coming up with suggestions as to potential theories; nothing more, nothing less.

But, that said, how'd you all like them? I spent two hours putting these together, so I hope it was good lol ^_^ I might go back and give my own opinion on my own situation, but for now, I'm just gonna leave it at this.

Yeah, you're pretty much on the dot with your conclusion part, and the theories are amazingly thorough for the information given (at least to someone with my level of knowledge). I wish I could say more, but, I'm not really sure what a good response would be, haha ^_^;;;
I would like to hear more about this, though, it's really really cool~ *is interested in psychology as well*
